Our Garden

We care deeply about our environment and use only organic and sustainable farming practices in our garden. We support the local, seasonal flower movement and supply blooms, as much as we can to local florists, do-it-yourself brides and markets.

Our garden includes many unique varieties such as fragrant and nostalgic sweet peas, scented geranium, phlox and stock. You’ll also find asters, echanacea, delphinum, larkspur, yarrow, cosmos, zinnias, lisianthus, dahlias, ageratum, strawflower, scabiosa, and loads of high quality sunflowers in numerous varieties. We grow unusual textural fillers and foliage such as cress, grasses, statice, celosia and herbs.

  • This means “no cut”. It will help guide you to only cut blooms that are ready. We may mark new perennials this way too so they can develop more for next year.

  • When cutting stems it is helpful to cut above 3-4 leaf nodes at the bottom of a stem. This allows the plant to put up new stems and keep blooming.

    1. When cutting stems it is helpful to cut above 3-4 leaf nodes at the bottom of a stem. This allows the plant to put up new stems and keep blooming.

    2. Strip leaves from lower half of stem before placing in container to keep blooms hydrated and allow more room in your container. You can drop them in the bed or between the path and bed.

    3. Do the wiggle test on flowers, such zinnias, to see if they are ready to cut. To test, wiggle the stem of the flower you’d like to cut. If it feels wobbly, it is not ready yet and will likely wilt in the vase.

  • Remember to return your snips to the shed and pick up your floral food packet.

  • Keep your stems in a cool place out of sun. Allow them to rest a bit before arranging anymore.
