Amy Edwards, Owner
A MESSAGE FROM AMY
I’m Amy Edwards, owner of Burdick Blueberries, and about ten years ago on April 1st (no joke), Beth and I with our pup Abby pulled into the farm, having hauled our belongings for Southern California. I was leaving behind my 30+ year career and returning to my third generation family blueberry farm, my childhood roots, my favorite place on earth. I had chosen to make a life changing u-turn and keep the farm in the family.
For those of you that are new to our farm, we are a 40 acre pick-your-own blueberry and flower farm located in the Enchanted Mountains of Cattaraugus County in western New York State. The farm has rolling hills and fields with surrounding woodlands. Its beauty and quietness still bring me great happiness and peace. Each summer we open the farm mid-July offering a guided picking experience for customers. We now enjoy hosting a year-round guest house through Airbnb and Vrbo sharing the farm’s beauty though the seasons.
Looking back through the decades I think my maternal grandfather (Milton Burdick), and most recently my big sister (Paula Jo 1955-2014) made running the farm look so easy. Ha! And while climate change and current situations have been game changers for all farmers, there was a lot that I didn’t grasp as the trusting child and working vacationer. But here I am, seven years later, having learned a TON with loads of help from side-kick Beth, all of our friends, neighbors, awesome employees, amazing customers—and I am filled with gratitude, humility and excitement for the future.
The beauty of Burdick Blueberries comes from over 70 years of extraordinary work by family members who preceded me as owners and stewards. My grandfather, Milton Burdick, and his wife, Pauline, began with potatoes and imagined a field of blueberries.
I hope you will always feel the beauty and peace, and taste the highest quality blueberries in an environment that reaches out to bless you as our guest. I look forward to welcoming you to the Patch!
